Saw the Jayhawks show Thursday night. Thought is was a top 10 show. Didn't see the Wilco show on Tuesday but I seriously doubt it was better than the Jayhawks. Last saw Wilco on the YHF tour and while that show was great it didn't match tonights Jayhawks show. Did anybody tape it ? What do you think? Did anybody see both the Wilco and Jayhawk show and disagree with me?

I went to both shows. I have been a big fan of both Wilco and the Jayhawks for more than a dozen years and was really looking forward to seeing the "classic" lineup of the Jayhawks. While I enjoyed both shows, Wilco took me to a whole other level. They continue to push their art into new nooks and crannies while maintaining their connection with their past. The Jayhawks are like my favorite flannel shirt - warm and comfortable,  a little worn at the elbows, but something I will put on again and again.

I took some photos at both shows:

And uploaded some Jayhawks videos to youtube, search for jayhawks at neptune theater

I went to the Jayhawks show, but missed Wilco.  They are both in my top five of favorite bands, but it seems like comparing apples to oranges.  The Jayhawks show was sweet, a little loose, the vocals weren't perfect, but the band looked really relaxed and seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Wilco has continued to evolve as a band, and even though their lineup has changed, its always been about Jeff Tweedy writing great songs.  Having the original two songwriters from the Jayhawks back together just seemed right.  The only downside to the show for me was that I was sitting in the front of the bar near the soundboard and the crowd would not get quiet when the opening act, Abbigail Washburn did a number completely unplugged.  Many people were oblivious to a really cool moment.
