This report just in from the Washington Blues Society: 2-5-2012.

The WIRED Band wins The International Blues Challenge in Memphis!

There were 240 bands from the United States and many from other countries in Memphis this past week. In the trial by fire that followed, one band survived:

The winner in Memphis is THE WIRED! BAND from Everett, Washington and representing the Washington Blues Society.

Congratulations to Kevin Sutton, Rick Jacobson and Kieth Bakke on a great accomplishment!!

Massy Ferguson Gigs
Triple Door 2/25 & More

Massy Ferguson is a bar band in the best sense. The songs, filled with barflies, broken hearts and doomed late-night romance, would sound pretty good anywhere, though. Singer-bassist Ethan Anderson says the sound is Americana that leans more toward rock than country, and that's a pretty good description. Think Drive-By Truckers or some combination of Son Volt and The Hold Steady. Think Springsteen's "Greetings From Asbury Park" or "Nebraska." Those are all influences, as is 1970s Southern rock and good-time classic rock bands like Thin Lizzy.

Hello fellow No Depression folk,

Happy New Year.

My new band "Palatine Ave" is debuting at The Tractor on Jan. 17th.  A Tuesday night. I am really excited about the awesome musicians in this band and the options we have with instrumentation. It couldn't be better. I realy look forward to continue to play on a regular basis. It's really been alot of fun.

Jan. 17th shouldn't be any different. Come and join us and this most excellent lineup.

Or head to our Facebook page and "LIKE" us and we can keep you posted on future shows.  http://www.facebook.com/PalatineAve

We don't have any music up yet as we only have been playing together for a short time. But trust us, you will like us anyway. Do it.

We go on at 9pm. Early enough you won't miss your bedtime.

Hellbound Glory is playing at Slim's last chance dec 8th. Their last show there was definitely one of my most memorable ones of 2011, and the new album is great!

Probably most of you are familiar with William Elliott Whitmore. If not, you should be :-). He's playing tonight (10/21) as part of the city arts festival and here's my preview at ssgmusic.com
