Comment by Stacy Lee DeHart on May 19, 2012 at 10:02pm You'll definitely want to keep an eye on the schedule for The Laurelthirst Pub first and foremost. There are so many others too. The Mcmenamin's pubs do a great job of hiring local bands. Check out especially The White Eagle, and Al's Den at McMenamins.com Looking forward to seeing you at some shows!
Comment by Chris Mateer on May 19, 2012 at 4:02pm Thanks for the links! It will be fun to get my ducks in a row music-wise as we prepare to get situated in PDX.
And now: the apt hunt begins!
Comment by Jeff Porter on May 19, 2012 at 7:06am There are two local papers that are a good resource - Willamette Week and The Mercury. Both have music listings online.
There is also a podcast & site for That Much Further West radio (http://www.facebook.com/thatmuchfurtherwestpodcast) that is a good source as well. It's run by Mike Lee and Eric Kotila who are part of the local roots music community.

Comment by Chris Mateer on May 17, 2012 at 8:03am What is the free, and/ or outdoor music scene like in Portland? Does anyone have any links and resources to share?
What are the best online resources of getting a handle on upcoming shows in Portland?
Pickathon sounds awesome, although we'll just be missing it when we arrive. Ugh.
Anyone do old-time jams?

You may have noticed some links to the far right for a couple free music tracks, including "Smokey's Night" from the Brass Kings, and "I'll Fly Away" performed by Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem. I just downloaded both songs and love them. Thanks to the bands and to NoDepression.com for making these available to members.
Comment by Kal on May 16, 2012 at 10:17pm Hello and welcome to new members (and old). Sit and stay a spell.
