Hey everyone...

I thought it would be great to have a little place we could call our own here in the new No Depression online community. We're a big country with people spread far and wide and so maybe this will bring those of us with some similar music interests here in Canada a little closer together. This group will only be what we make of it so please make friends, start discussions, post concerts and music of interest, etc.! I thought we would leave everything unmoderated - we're a kind people, aren't we?

Trespass Music

Hi Everyone,

Michelle Fortier from Trespass Music a music agency based in MA.

My background in the music industry includes many years of management, booking, artist promotions and publicity with my former company Wingschell Entertainment prior to joining the Trespass Music team. Along with my colleagues, I write the Trespass Tracker, a community newsletter featuring spotlights on music industry professionals, and our clients. I am responsible for the marketing, promotion and publishing of clients events and accomplishments, formulating and issuing press releases, gaining reviews and reaching the masses through social media. I manage NJ award winning singer-songwriter Loretta Hagen, and handle publicity for gold/platinum/Juno/CFMA nominee, recording artist Linda McRae. I am currently serving on the Sun Parlour Folk Music Society (Kingsville, Ontario) board, has organized local festivals, community events and fundraisers, produced, hosted and emceed musical projects, has volunteered at Listen Live Music, Borderline Folk Music Club and is a former BOD of Music At The Mission.

I'm also excited about Trespass Music Tele-seminar for DIY musicians.

Great news! It was just announced in this morning's Edmonton Journal that Emmy will be at this year's Edmonton Folk Festival, performing on the Friday evening (10 August)!

Here's another original from Ron Hawkins - these were all recorded and shot in the CBC studio.

Check out one of Canada's great songwriters - Ron Hawkins. You'll know him from the Lowest of the Low. Here he is with his newest band - The Do-Good Assassins. They’ are in the studio now recording a double CD of Ron's solo work.

Welcome, Fred!  Thanks for supporting Canadian music :)  Yeah, it's interesting how many artists find their audience in the UK.

Great group - sorry I am from the UK but many of my recent purchases have been by Canadian artists - some of them are exceptional and up there with the best singer songwriters in the world

Juno Awards 2012: ROOTS AND TRADITIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR, GROUP: The Wailin’ Jennys, Bright Morning Stars.

I was cheering for the Deep Dark Woods but the category was strong this year.
