Hey everyone...

I thought it would be great to have a little place we could call our own here in the new No Depression online community. We're a big country with people spread far and wide and so maybe this will bring those of us with some similar music interests here in Canada a little closer together. This group will only be what we make of it so please make friends, start discussions, post concerts and music of interest, etc.! I thought we would leave everything unmoderated - we're a kind people, aren't we?

Hey everyone, I'm not normally one to plug something so blatantly, but I wanted to get the word out about Cameron House Records. It's a great little Toronto label affiliated with the Cameron House bar. Its latest releases include Stand Together, Fall Together by Sam Cash (son of Andrew) and Volume One by Devin Cuddy (son of Jim). Other artists they have include Whitney Rose and Al Tuck. I'd love to hear what people think!

Howdy folks. Wanted to send a quick note about my new album "State Theatre". It's a double album with 12 originals and 8 covers by John Prine, Neil Young, The Band, Gram Parsons, and more. It's on its 3rd consecutive month on the European Americana Chart. I'm self managed, so please excuse the grassroots shameless self promotion. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, so I think you'll all enjoy it. Check out www.jrshore.com. Regards, J.R.

Ooh, that's a tough on Carman. Neko's in town that night. Sadly, I suspect I'll miss your gig. Sorry.

Kingsville folk Music festival August 8-10 2014!!

Established December, 2012, The Sun Parlour Folk Music Society (SPFMS) exists to promote the live performance of folk music and to establish and maintain cultural activities amongst its members and the community at large.  Our vision is to evolve as a global leader in community based Folk music celebrations.  We have started a concert series and will produce the first annual Kingsville Folk Music Festival, August 8-10, 2014.

With careful and realistic planning, our goal is to grow to be a destination festival, to be a clean and green model, to provide a platform for youth and young performers to showcase and to instil lifelong learning and skills through involvement and volunteering.
