Medicine Show Radio

MEDICINE in the modern sense is perceived to be a treatment for ailment, but in the ancient sense particularly in the minds of Native Americans, medicine is all that is good in nature connecting the spirit world with the physical. The Medicine of music can be a direct connection with all it is to be human and also our best prescription for the disconnecting-ailments of our modern culture"

The Medicine Show podcast is now 2 hours, I'm doing an extra hour, imaginatively called "The Extra Hour" so I have more room for everyone's music and to plug your gigs, so let me know, if your touring Euro-side.

Comment by The Medicine Show on August 30, 2013 at 5:35pm Sometimes the word artist is used casually as a collective noun for Singer Songwriters. I use the word in every aspect of the meaning of art when I describe Dave Sharp as an artist, he is an artist in sound and word and his pallet is the guitar. Dave is my guest on the show this week. We look forward to the first amasing songwriters festival happening 31st Aug 1st Sept in beautiful Strathpeffer here in the Highlands. I feature Eddi Reader, Davy Cowan, Kate Dunn, The Whiskys, Fash Stewart, Dean Owens & Alice Bentley, + Dave Sharp gives us a couple of live songs and his insight into the acoustic music scene of the UK.

All artists featured are playing this weekend as part of amasing

20th August was a very special night for us, we welcomed Devon Sproule and the Tin Angel co-operative to Ullapool, they presented their recorded material in the Studio, and looked forward to the new Devon Sproule album, and Devon introduced us to Thomas and Beartrice before played live for us at our regular Tuesday Night Medicine Show in the Argyll Hotel.

This week's Health and Happiness Hour, is in the main a tribute to the sadly departed Cowboy Jack Clement, I look at his legacy both as a song writer and innovative producer. I also talk to Mary Jean Lewis (Jerry lee Lewis niece) about growing up in the shadow of a legend, her home cooking, her new home of Scotland and her music, and I feature a live track recorded at Belladrum Festival, and look forward tothe amasing festival strathpeffer
