Put this one into the "beyond" category, but out here in the inland valley we've got Davie Gayle playing at Flour Fusion on Main in Lake Elsinore this coming Friday the 16th at 8:00. Sal and Isela...a very unique husband/wife duo will be on at 9:00. Davie's album is really fine, and features some great musicians including her brother Michael (who'll be at the gig) and steel god JayDee Maness (who won't). Oh yeah...Free!

I'm guessing is pretty much well beyond LA but so much of the music I dug over the years emanated from LA so I feel like I've been a part of the scene (even if I've never been near the place). Magic?

Old Californio kicked butt on the Echoplex stage last night. If you have not yet seen this band, you must! And you can catch them this Wednesday at the Redwood Bar with Welldigger's Banquet (another of LA's finest!) 316 W. 2nd Street in downtown LA. 9:30 FREE

My show with Slaid Cleaves last night kicked ass! We packed the house - SOLD OUT! When Slaid arrived for sound check, he looked at the room and said "Let's not use the PA tonight, we'll do the show pure acoustic"... it was him, Chojo Jacques (fiddle) and Billy Bright (mando). Dafni did a wonderful solo opening set as well! Since Slaid went acoustic we had to turn off the A/C - so it was warm and cozy... everyone left smiling though!!! The night couldn't have been more perfect!
