Two excellent encore sessions from 2011 this week, firstly from North Devon our own and much loved Peter Bruntnell, who in July last year played and talked about his new album & his writing partnership, he is about to record a Bob Harris session for the BBC, hear him on HoM first. Our second session comes from Jacksonville, Florida where the soulful vocals and sun worshiper JJ Grey hails from. He has been a firm favorite of the HoM for some years and last May he came to London and recorded a high energy session that lifted the roof of the then new Snake Pit studio. He, along with HoM fave, Harry Manx are both up for Canadian blues awards, if you see this before January 16th, please vote, go to www.mapleblues.ca register and vote.....
Our record of the week is a record of the year contender, we have been playing a track from it since it arrived three weeks ago. ' Hello Cruel World ' by Gretchen Peters is a milestone of a record from this Nashville singer. Gretchen tours the UK in March so go see, listen to this beautiful record, our House of Mercy record of the week.
