I've decided to take some of my favorite comments left by signatories of the petition and put them here. Please leave your own if you haven't yet. Paste magazine said it best here.

# 3,126: Feb 4, David Slack, Minnesota: It would be a shame to not have an artist into the Country Music Hall of Fame that has been such a great ambassador for REAL country music as well as evolving the art form and introducing it to new generations of fans. He deserves to be there.

PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY: # 3,185: Mar 3, Tom Rose, Arizona: This is way overdue. Country music has Gram to thank for reinvigorating it and broadening its appeal. He extolled its virtues to anyone who would listen and had an open mind. We're all better for having him with us for even such a short time and country owes much of its popularity today to his skill and sensitivity in blending it and making it more accessible to younger musicians in particular and listeners in general.

PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY # 3,194: Mar 11, Michael McDonald, Canada: Gram Parsons not being in the Country Music Hall would really take away the Halls credibility. You cannot deny the genius of this incredible trail blazer of roots country. He was a comet of talent that burned out far too early. Modern roots would never be what it is today if not for the hand and mind of Gram.I ask you to give him his rightful place in history. He was a musical genius. Long Live Mr Gram Parsons. PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY: # 3,203: Mar 21, Hans Rosen, Sweden: Gram should be together with Emmy. If Emmy deserved to be in the COUNTRY Music Hall of fame, so does he!

# 3,218: Mar 28, Mark larue Todd, Oregon: Gram influenced so many of the hippie generation to reconsider the possibility that country music might be worthwhile. As a working musician I get more requests to play Gram's music than possible any other artist. He was the real deal. Just ask Emmy Lou. http://www.gramparsonspetition.com

PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY: # 3,221: Apr 5, David Ledford, CA: It is a damned shame that this petition even needs to exist. In a time when country music had been largely written off as important by the masses, Gram may have done more than any other single individual to proselytize the stark beauty of real country music to a nation that was at the time skeptical to say the least. Gram's body of work has been introducing people to country music, people who would not have probably otherwise given it a second look, for more than 40 years. His influence on music is far reaching can be seen and heard in the realm of country and rock music to this day. We owe this honor to this man, and it is shamefully long overdue. Let's finally pay Gram back for all that he did to share country music with the wider world.

PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY: May 2, Thomas Kowalewski, Germany: "His influence is huge - and his songs still bring us to tears after 40 years - so it's a shame we need this petition at all, don't you think so???" BTW folks, you can answer his question...

PETITION QUOTE OF THE DAY: # 3,245: May 6, Nicole Tukker, Canada: I only just found his music, and I already cannot stop listening. His songs are beautiful and inspirational, and it would be an honour to his memory if he would be inducted in to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
