saw it last night...going to the narrows too...

it's just alejandro and david this time, but amazing how those two can kick ass with just a couple of acoustic guitars....they both use them like percussion instruments, they rip the strings, play all over the neck and body...he's got a new album coming out and he played some new songs...went out into the audience like i've seen him do before...

p.s. david and angel, if you're reading this give me a shout out at johngf01@comcast.net...
Yes- I was there too! It was really really great. Man can they rock those guitars. John- remember the El Paso songs he wrote for his father (he sang these when he first came down into the audience)? Were those released on an album? I'd love to find them...
Thanks guys! Can't wait for Fri. The Narrows is an awesome venue!
I'll second that. Can't wait. Any opener?
I don't think there is an opener.
Now that's one show I wish I could have made. Don't think he's coming to Buffalo. Hopefully those power cellos will help my daughter at Berklee get more gigs...
I'll be at the Narrows too. The last time I saw him there and saw that the set up was two chairs and two acoustic guitars, I was a little disappointed, but my disappointment was unfounded because, as others have pointed out, they did indeed kick ass.
Ya. I was hoping for the electric band........I'm sure he will be awesome! Thanks
also saw them last night. saw them at MFA last year, as well. they were great. exciting to hear about the new album, which he described as a rock and roll album. who woulda thought an acoustic version of "I wanna Be Your Dog" could be so exciting?
Agreed- loved his version- sleazy as hell (this is meant as high praise). He did that song justice!
Ironically, "I wanna Be Your Dog" was also the last last song I heard at Somerville Theater. Mission of Burma covered it as their final encore.

Also that night, the legendary Boston band The Neighborhoods opened. Alejandro mentioned them during the show, as the band they played with at the (infamous) Rat and then gave them a tour of the city at 4AM.

The Neighborhoods are great still. They don't play out all that often, but are playing at Church on Sat, as part of a great 3-day tribute concert there. It's TONIGHT thru Sat. Also look for Andrea Gillis, Muck & the Mires and Dirty Truckers. See http://www.churchofboston.com/events.php for details.
