Does anyone else remember "Mason Proffit"? 4 Replies

I'm always surprised that this band's name doesn't pop up more often in the Americana scene. They were a very early Americana band (late 60's) and were strong influences on many other bands…Continue

On Saturday, May 11th, the Blue Moon Coffeehouse brings bluegrass with a Boston accent to Rockland with a performance by "The Wilbas."   Known for over a decade as The Harvest Band, they were briefly known as The Sue Rocha Band when founding member Randy Ducharme left. They became The Wilbas (pronounced with a Boston accent) around 2010.  The band has performed at coffeehouses, festivals, and venues all over New England, including the South Shore Arts Festival, Bluegrass on the Bogs, and the South Shore Folk Club.  Lead singer, Sue Rocha, will have her CD, "Seasons," available at the venue.  Between sets by The Wilbas, there will be an open mic.  The show starts at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $7 at the door; children 12 and under are free.  The address is Channing Unitarian Universalist Church, 45 Webster St. Rockland, MA, right beside the post office.  For more information, visit www.thebluemooncoffeehouse.com.  You can listen to the band on YouTube at http://youtu.be/FaquqwxHKng and http://youtu.be/VAN-D-ljIBk.

Paul Geremia's Watertown concert (see below and here) has received the endorsed of Suzy Thompson, virtuoso roots musician.

Boston area peeps -- you NEED to go hear Paul Geremia tomorrow night and experience the healing power of the blues! This man's music will take you into some wondrous high-up, deep down and far-off places, he is not some skinny photogenic young person, he is the REAL DEAL.

Hi Boston Americana bands/fans!

Yes, we are (yet another!) band in the rich Boston music scene. We play all-original Americana/roots rock and have gigged at some pretty cool venues, like the Hard Rock Cafe, Precinct, Johnny D's.

We also have a gig this Friday April 19th, 9:00pm at Johnny D's. Come on by and introduce yourself! We would love to team up with like minded bands and Americana fans and put some great bills together, either in town or in the burbs, so let us know if that is of interest. If you have any shows, the whole band makes it a point to go out at least once a month to see other bands at local clubs and make connections.
So c'mon out to Johnny Ds and/or give us a shout at shotgunwaltz@comcast.net if you'd like to make a connection!

Thanks!
