With well over 100 ND Groups and currently 36 regional/city groups, it's perplexing that there are none dedicated to the city where most of the music of interest to No Depression came together, at least as a business. While many detest Nashville just for that reason, it's hard to believe it can be ignored. While not a permanent resident, I know a few, I've held my first two Gram Nationals there (many more coming). While it seems a fortress, it is also very welcoming, and there are hundreds of great musicians outside the fortress walls, and many great clubs and venues. It is no doubt a city of contradictions, which makes it interesting. The rebels leave, they make it, they come back. While I personally don't believe the business side is producing much of what I'd call country music these days, that doesn't mean it isn't still the Capital of Country Music. If you don't like it, change it (what Gram was trying to do). This Group is named after two related things: Nashville and its vicinity's area code, which was also the name of a band comprising Nashville's finest musicians back in the late '60s (I had their first album), many of whom backed Dylan on Nashville Skyline. I have a feeling this Group may become confrontational; that's OK, but let's try to keep things civil. Nashville is a great city, with a great musical history, and there's much to discuss. So go to it. I'll present some headings as a way to keep order here; please try to post under one of the categories.

Area Code 615 (the band, late '60s, had their 1st LP):

* Mac Gayden, Lead Guitar, Vocals
* Charlie McCoy, Harmonica, Vocals
* Bobby Thompson, Banjo, Guitar
* Wayne Moss, Guitar, Bass
* Buddy Spicher, Fiddle, Viola, Cello
* David Briggs, Keyboards
* Ken Lauber, Keyboards
* Norbert Putnam, Bass, Cello
* Kenny Buttrey, Drums
* Weldon Myrick, Pedal Steel Guitar
* Elliot Mazer, Co-Producer
Charlie McCoy was just inducted into the CMHOF. These comprise some of my favorite musicians of all time.
AREA CODE 615 was known as a 'Super group" as was their later incarnation , called 'Barefoot Jerry', using many of these same musicians as AC 615. Charlie Daniels refers to this band in his song, 'the souths gonna do it again'
