The flood in Nashville and surrounding areas is worse than presented in the national media. Please follow the local news such as The Tennessean as these will be your best source of information. I'll put some links here. Nashville is in our thoughts and prayers.

Government/mayor link: Nashville.gov for the best in emergency coverage.

Nashville official Facebook page.

Best link to coverage of the flood, which is not confined to Nashville; places such as historic Franklin and Sumner are also devastated. Obama has declared a four-country region a disaster area.

Must see video of the Flood: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=p...

A portion of the proceeds from the new John Hartford Stringband - Memories Of John, that are sold from the official site http://www.johnhartfordstringband.com (we do not know what other vendors can/will do as some of them might well be in the grips of this disaster) will be donated to support our friends, colleagues, and others who are suffering in Nashville, due to the flood. Thank you for helping us help them.

About the song; Originally written several years ago, it was recently dusted off and rewritten with the help of Lynda Lucas (Dublin Ireland).

About the video; This is raw, non-professional footage of the rain and flooding at my home in Nashville .. mixed with a few pics from the day after.

Opry launches trivia challenge to raise money for flood relief (from Country Standard Time)

Monday, July 12, 2010 – Country music fans can test their knowledge by answering trivia in the Grand Ole Opry's new online Country Music Video Challenge to benefit flood relief. The Challenge is at opry.com.

The Country Music Video Challenge features video clips of country music performances followed by questions about those clips and the artists featured in them. Throughout the Challenge, players are invited by their favorite country stars to donate to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's flood relief efforts. Additionally, Opry Presenting Sponsor Humana has pledged to donate $1 for each of the first 25,000 fans who play the game.

Fans who play the game will also be entered to win one-of-a-kind Challenge prizes, including a Gibson guitar autographed by Brad Paisley, $500 cash and a trip to Nashville including VIP tickets to the Opry.

Players will be able to challenge their friends in the game via Facebook and Twitter. "Friends from around the world have communicated with us via Facebook, Twitter, and email, asking what they can do to help after this spring's floods," said Angie Reynolds, Opry Interactive Manager.
