For me it was Chubby Checker (Earnest Evans) doing The Twist
in a big revival style tent at Monroe County Fair, Rochester, NY
in like 1960 or 61.

The Kingsmen live and on stage at a small venue in Taunton Ma (1963) I remember the version of walkin the dog they performed was better than Louie Louie.

Something better than Louie, Louie? Blasphemy!

Reality sucks...I'm not sayin that Louie Louie was not a seminal song...I think it was...but " walkin the dog" was a revelation. In addition...I was introduced to thrown beer bottles as a sign a affection. Big stuff for a 15 year old.

ha! Yeah, the 1st time you're exposed to older teenagers acting like, well, older teenagers without adult supervision is pretty stunning.

I get/have to hear the Kingsmen version at every Seattle Mariners home game. I could go a few seasons without hearing it again!

Why is a Portland Band showcased in Seattle? What does Louie Louie have to do with baseball? I thought SEX was the point...at least in our minds. Last game I saw in Seattle A-Rod was on the field. Let's go Phillies!!!

Sam the Sham and the Pharos.

(my cousins had to take me so they could not get too wild!

Beach Boys with the Shangra La's and GinoWashington.....Olympia Stadium Detroit Mi.  1964
