What is your favorite cover version of your favorite song?

Just curious what people think?

Stu you may be right. From another HUGE Bob Delevante fan.
Steve Youngs version of Van Zandts No place to fall and Nina Simones version of Dylans Just like Tom Thumb´s blues
Nina knocks the socks off Bob.
Am listening to Kasey Chambers sing Son Volt's "Tear Stained Eye" right now. It might not be my favorite cover of my favorite song, but it'll do...
Can't stick with just one so:

1. All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
2. Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley
3. Hurt- Johnny Cash
4. Pancho and Lefty- Emmylou Harris
5. Black Star- Gillian Welch
6. Rock Salt and Nails- Buddy and Julie Miller
7. Jersey Girl- Bruce Springsteen
8. Respect- Aretha Franklin
9. Sweet Jane- Cowboy Junkies
10. Nothing Compares 2 U- Sinead O'Connor
I second Stu Reid's motion above on Bob Delevante.
I can't believe I missed this one earlier. And it's a tie. Either Stevie Ray Vaughn , AND/OR, Danny Morris doing Jimi's "Little Wing" live. Saw Stevie so many times I came to expect greatness. I've only seen Danny Morris once and he completely blew me away. JAW DROP ON THE FLOOR GREAT!!! The rest of his show was as good a set of surf/blues as you'll ever see. Whoever said " anyone playing surf is only repeating something Dick Dale played " , never saw Danny Morris.
Can your favourite song be a favourite cover? Wouldn't one usurp the other?
All this "favorite", favorite stuff drives me crazy, but I was thrilled by Elvis Costello's cover of "The Bottle Let Me Down" the other night at the Greek Theater, not to mention his own country cover of "Allison".
Mr. Tambourine Man by the Byrds, sends Dylan's original in an entirely different direction.
