I recently stumbled upon Turnstyled Junkpiled( http://turnstyledjunkpiled.com/). It bills itself as L.A's Americana magazine but it is a pretty good general Americana publication. I am not 100% sure but I think it may be online only. At any rate it is worth a look.

My favorite album this week is  Alex McMurray -- I Will Never Be alone In This Land.  He is the consumate go-to sideman guitarist ubiquitous around New Orleans but I had not purchased one of his albums under his name until this week.   He has contributed to acts ranging from R&B, rock, jazz, funk, country, brass band, and even sea shanties.   In fact there is a joke in HBO's Treme' where one of the main character's own band brings in Alex to replace him at guitar. 

This one will be in my top three for 2012 for sure.  www.alexmcmurray.com

I agree. Love this album.  I saw the CD release show last month - fun times.  If you like that you should check out his last one "How To Be A Cannonball" and both fantastic albumns by his previous band Royal Fingerbowl.  What a talented guy...

After a reminder on this site i've been listening to Magnolia Electric Co a lot this week, the album What Comes After The Blues is brilliant and its follow up Fading Trails aint too shabby either.

Last night we listened to Annie Lou "Grandma's Rules for Drinking". Excellent music that led us to Eilen Jewell "Letters From Sinners & Strangers". More fantastic music that was followed by Audra Mae & the Almighty Sound. A wonderful evening of musical pleasure.

I am still digging Iris Dement "Sing the Delta".

I was just going to write a note saying Grandma's Rules for Drinking was my favorite this week, and then saw someone else was writing that.  

I do love this recording, good old Canadian bluegrass, and funny too.
