Doesn't have to be a great revelation. Doesn't have to change the year in music. Could be old. Could be new. Just has to do it for this week. So what is doing it for you this week?

Trace is definitely one of the great all-time car albums, IMHO. (Hmmmm .... maybe "best car albums" would be an interesting separate thread).

Anyway, this week, so far, it's Keith Mullins' The Great Atlantic. I can't decide if this is really, really good or just a passing fancy, so I'll keep listening until I know. Smart, modern folk in the vein of some of the Boston folkies like Chris O'Brien and Chris Smither, but definitely very Irish.
Beck...Sea Change! It is the mood I am in this week. If you haven't heard it...give it a chance. Then I looked above 2 comments. So weird, your fourty daddys comment! the Beck is stuck in my head not cd changer!
This week-
Richmond Fontaine- Postcard From Portland-Live at Dante's
Paul Brainard-Caught Steelin' Vol 1
Redlands Palomino Company-Take Me Home
Johnny Cash-Ain't No Grave
Vigilantes of Love-V.O.L.
Still really have to get the Johnny Cash - thanks for the reminder!
Duane Allman's Anthology has been a favorite this week
Johnny Cash - aint no grave
slaid cleaves - everything you love will be taken away
grant lee phillips - virginia creeper
Bob Dylan -Together through life
Girls - Album
Man, I gotta dig that one out. It's been awhile. I love that cd. Be good to hear some Duane Allman again!
The Band "Rock Of Ages". My last buy compleating replacing all my Band cd's with the new remastered ones. This new one sounds great and has a second disk of bonus tracks. Great stuff.
Jon Dee Graham's latest (It's Not As Bad As It Looks) ... inspired writing and playing by the master plus able assistance from Fastball's drummer and Son Volt's bass player ... a couple of songs sound reminiscent of Alejandro Escovedo but that could be because Jon Dee was a True Believer and sometimes tours as AE's guitarist. Highly recommended.
Carolina Chocolate Drops-Genuine Negro Jig...gets better with every listen...they definitely got something original here
I cannot believe that I have reached the age of 63 without realizing just "How Good" Allison Moorer is........

"The Duel"

Tomorrow I drive from Liverpool to London and the Ipod has lots of "Allison".
