Great fucking album! It's sad that Mr. Paycheck is so under-represented on CD or in digital mediums. Just one more reason I hold on to my vinyl.
always been a big fan of the early stuff. I've always thought Grorge got his sound from Johnny instead of the other way around. It was while Johnny was in Georges band that George went from the possum to a real crooner.
Absolutely right. The early stuff is probably his best pure country stuff, but I also have a soft spot for some of the Billy Sherrill-produced stuff from the early '70s: "She's All I Got," "Somebody Loves Me," etc. And "Old Violin" has to be on any list of the greatest country songs ever written.

Hi All,

Although it's not Americana or Roots, I did buy something at a garage sale that I thought was a pretty good score, especially for the price.  $3.00 for a first release of Grand Funk Live, good condition including the poster that originally came with the album. The posters are rare, as they almost always got hung up or if they were saved, they have thumb tac holes or scotch tape on them. This one is a little brittle, but in very good condition.

Mickey Newbury box set.
You lucky dog!
Is that a new set?
I bought this last weekend. Very interesting so far.

Last weekend I bought a  Dobbs Center Dent Panama Straw Hat for this weekends Houston International Festival  held in downtown Houston (Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band with Lou Ann Barton, Keb' Mo, Robert Cray).

I'll probably wear the hat again the following weekend for Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Lucinda Williams and the Joe Ely Reunion Band with Bobby Keys!

It's a box set of Mickey's 3 albums circa 1969 - 1971 Adam , classic albums that i've been waiting to get for ages , plus a 4th disc of previously unreleased tracks . I Pre - ordered it , comes out very soon , i can't wait !
