We've got a pretty good one here in Boston, Brooklyn's is happening too. Baltimore - heard good things.
So if you tour, what's the good, the bad and the ugly?
If you wind up in the Florida panhandle, check out a double venue - Thursday nights at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park at the end of 30A near Destin - with a weekly concert called Americana Under the Stars - and a repeat performance every Sunday, 60 miles away at Americana Cafe Sundays in the legendary Roberts Hall.
Since the first week of February, rain or shine....hot or cold there has been an amazing variety of live Americana music, from Blues to Country to Folk. Brian Kennedy from Nashville, Pierce Pettis (last week), a Western Swing band called Jackson Creek to Slim Fatz, Rebekah Pulley and many others.
Free admission with a contribution hoped for - every penny goes to the singer/songwriters and either the Topsail Hill volunteers who keep the park in good shape, or the restoration of Roberts Hall, where Hank Williams played in the late 40s.
Future headliners include Sally Spring, Paul Kamm and Beaucoup Blue, with bookings already into next March.
We aren't bookers, just long-time singer/songwriters who love to tour and are trying to open the panhandle to great music. If you play original music (or love to listen to it) , check it out at luckymudmusic.com
I'd throw down for Asheville, NC &, of course, Austin, TX including nearby Gruene, TX with the oldest continually run dance hall in Texas.
