The song I just can't get out of my head! What's yours?

Well, for me right now, it's Jason Isbell's "Go It Alone". What an absolutely killer song. A minor-key powerhouse with an anthemic, head-turning hook of a chorus. Lyrically--I can't quite figure out its meaning. As a songwriter, I kind of like doing that. It's either a breakup kind of song, or perhaps a tale of coming off an addiction? You know, it's songs like these that just make it damn fun to get up the morning.

"Emmylou"  by  First Aid Kit

Easy and I predict - that you won't be able to get it out of your head either.

Havienda by Pickwick

And if they actually get around to releasing a full lenght cd this Year - Pickwick will be in everybody's top 10 next year -

Lately it's been the Blaze Foley song "My Reasons Why"....in fact it embedded itself in my heart too and when that happens I gotta let it out.  I ran this by the Blaze Foley documentary film director Kevin Triplett first. He liked it and sent me some photos to make a video with.

Blaze's sister Marsha gave permission to post this one:

Right on Gil! (:

"Can't You See" by Marshall Tucker Band

"World of Hurt" by the Drive-By Truckers.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9cf_K3bUdk.  It's one of those happy sad songs.

Diane Birch, Fire Escape - lovely, haunting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRpo2zWZ6lc

Ronee Blakely, My Idaho Home, from the Altman film, Nashville:

Today it is "Stray Dogs"  by Rod Picott:

"Stray dogs howl and I know why, Baby,

Stray dogs howl and I know why.

Ever since you left my side, Baby,

Stray dogs howl and I know why.

Dancing On Our Graves by The Cave Singers. The song is hauntingly captivating, and it's the video that seals the deal.

loved that!

Can't get "This Strange Engine" (all 17 minutes) by Marillion out of my head.  Contains some elements of Americana mixed with Rock although they are from the UK.  Contains some of the most emotionally powerful passages I've heard in years especially the passages starting at 1:45, starting at 6:00, and starting at 10:00 that leads into one of the most spine-tingling guitar solos (by the great Steve Rothery) I've ever heard .  You know a guitar solo is good when the crowd gives a standing ovation in the middle of a song!  Getting ready for their upcoming North America tour.  Planning to see them both night in Los Angeles.
