Please step in.

Here is how this works: Surely there are skeletons in your closet of musical fandom that you are aware of.

This thread is where you let the healing begin.

Let it all out.

Admitting to the shame is the first step to making it all better.

I'll start.

I am deeply ashamed to admit that I am more familiar with Bob Geldof's Deep In The Heart Of Nowhere than I am with Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks. I understand that this is scandalous and unacceptable and should have been rectified a long time ago. In my defense, I can say that I am not fond of Geldof's effort in the least. I just happened to purchase it in high school and spent a summer mowing lawns while listening to it and trying to figure out if it was any good. It really isn't, but I have a certain soft nostalgic spot for those lawn mowing days.

Further in my defense, I may say that "Idiot Wind" is one of my favorite Dylan tracks and that I believe that it leads off Blood On The Tracks, but I am not entirely certain (and further to my credit, I am not turning around and pulling it off the shelf to cheat). [EDIT: I checked - boy, was I wrong. Side A: Track #4 - will begin further penance.]

While I understand that I had a musically misspent youth which rapidly moved into a busy adult life full of responsibilities, I realize that this particular situation should have been rectified long ago.

The first step is acknowledging the problem.

I am on the road to recovery.

OK - Who's next?

Queen. Gets me every time. Not ashamed to admit it. Cheap Trick too.
Nothing wrong with Cheap Trick- nothing at all (Queen too0 just not as much)
+1 Cheap Trick are top notch in my book. I am no Queen fan, but I got nothing against them, really.
Britney Spears - Guilty
Hanson - Guilty
Monkees - Guilty
Scary Beatles obsession in high school - Guilty
Even scarier Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks obsession - Guilty
Time Life collections - Very guilty
Aqua's Barbie Girl - Guilty

But I make up for all of this with the 700+ other "non-guilty" pleasure artists in my iTunes.

And since when did loving Linda Ronstadt become something to be ashamed about?

When did loving the Beatles or the Monkees become something to be ashamed of? :) I just bought season 1 + 2 of the Monkees for old times sake. "Daydream Believer" has always been killer.

First piece of music I bought: Cher's "Half Breed" '45 and the shame is.... I still kinda like it ;-)
I've got Cher's 3614 Jackson Highway album, mainly because she recorded it in Muscle Shoals, but it's not a bad guilty pleasure to have.

Mine would be ELO, especially "Sweet Talkin' Woman". Fun to listen too, sing too, play the guitar too--I've even tried to adapt the violin parts to acoustic guitar, with predictably feeble results, but you've gotta make your own fun sometimes.
These are always funny to read. My miss spent youth involved a lot of street punk, Oi! and punk rock, none of which I am ashamed of as these all brought me to Americana, Western Swing and Reggae, which at this point make my life worth living...
But I have my skeletons.
I have seen Iron Maiden more than once, and know all the words to all their songs.
I forced my poor wife to watch the Def Lepperd movie all the way through.
I can't stand Bob Dylan (but probably have every recorded second the Byrds ever did).
Many more, but I am embarrassed enough at this point- off to listen to some Maiden
Iron Maiden and Def Lepperd in one confession!!!!! Shame on you...however you redeem yourself hugely on The Byrds note... everyone plays Dylan better than Dylan. As for punk rock... The Clash, The Pistols, The Jam, Graham Parker ( Punk??), Ian Dury etc, etc, etc, it dosent get better than that, a fantastic education. Easy on the Maiden though, that can't be good for you!
Up the Irons. I've seen them a couple or three times. It's all good fun.
I confess, I laugh hysterically every time I watch this, but I'm down to only 3-4 times a week now.

OK...Hows this? Peter Frampton, Donna Summers, KC & the Sunshine Band or just about anything else Disco.
I had so much fun in that short run era. No worries mate! That's the way uh huh, uh huh, I like it...
