Ok, this doesn't come out until January, so I'm not doing a review until December at the earliest, but I had to share with you that I have just heard the album of the year for 2011 and I feel 100% confident saying that even though I haven't yet heard a single other album from next year.

The whole album is a mix of '50s rockabilly, old school country, Memphis R&B, and very, very hard rock. Those who think Neil Young's Le Noise is experimental are in for a big surprise if they pick this one up.

The best track for me is "Thunder on the Mountain," which is the only time since Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" that a lyrical change actually made the song better. Not only does Wanda not give a "dang" about your dreams, but she also would rather not mention Alicia Keyes, substituting her name for a troubled rock star of her own generation.

If anybody wants to know anything about the album, feel free to ask. I'm just not sure if I can answer all of your questions yet.

Is it produced by Jack White then ?
Yes.
So would you say it's "Van Lear Rose" good?
That's a difficult question. Two things that are important in the equation is that 1) Wanda isn't a songwriter, so unlike Van Lear Rose, we've heard these songs before and 2) Jack White pushes her a lot farther out of her comfort zone than he did Loretta.

But in a pinch I'd say that it's near the level of it, but I won't know which is better until I've spent a little more time with this one.
Hmmm...........interesting.
"Van Lear Rose" seems so long ago, oh, it was, but it is significant, The publicist who sent it to me thought I would like it cause it was an analog recording. I tried to like it, but I frisbeed it after I reviewed it, always wondered whether she faked her pneumonia to get out of the tour. Jack White is sincere, I guess, T Bone Burnette He is not.
Each to their own i suppose , i thought Van Lear Rose was classic and it led me to check out her earlier stuff , i'd only heard Coal Miners Daughter before that .
No, the new T-Bone Burnett is actually a guy named Dave Cobb. Google him. He's produced the Secret Sisters, Jamey Johnson, Chris Cornell, Shooter Jennings, the Oak Ridge Boys and Black Robot among others. Nice guy too based on what I've heard.

Jack White is actually closer to Rick Rubin: edgy and modern but with a deep respect for the past. Van Lear Rose was easily one of the best albums of the last decade.
I agree that Van Lear Rose is one of the best albums of the last decade. I love anything Loretta Lynn does AND I love anything Jack White does. What a perfect combination. I want them to do another!
I'll have to get the new Wanda album!! She plays in Austin quite a bit. Sadly, I've never been able to go see her since I'm not 21 and can't get into the clubs she plays.
