Playlists are for the purpose of matching a particular mood. Sometimes I am not even sure what to call it-- the mood or the list. Here's a short playlist, in progress, that I just call "Those Songs" :
About Today The National
What Do I Do Sam Phillips
I Wanna Be Adored (Remastered) The Stone Roses
Resplendent Bill Mallonee & The Vigilantes of Love

Permalink Reply by Jeff Newport on June 9, 2012 at 8:26am Thanks, Randy. I'll put this list on my iPod. You and I have quite a bit in common. I like kickin' it off with Bruce -- "Lyin out there like a killer in the sun, Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run." I've got a picture of my daughter, Amy, 2 years old, holding the lp of Born To Run. Just finished listening to Robbie Fulks' Fountains Of Wayne Hotline. :)
This is not my favorite playlist, but what I like to do when I can't decide what to listen to is use iTunes DJ and have it randomly make a playlist for me. I just generated one and here is what it made for me:
Leaps and Bounds - Paul Kelly
Just Call Me Lonesome - Radney Foster
The Fourth Night of My Drinking - Drive-By Truckers
Manic Monday - The Bangles
The Old Apartment - Barenaked Ladies
You Are The Sunshine Of My Life - Stevie Wonder
A Legal Matter - The Who
Hey Nino Tempo - Chris Von Sneidern
Wallflower Waltz - k.d. lang
Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis
Blue So Bad - Levon Helm
Everyday I Have The Blues - B.B. King
Holding On To The Earth - Sam Phillips
Rev It Up - Fred Eaglesmith
I Wanna Get Old With You - James Hunter
When It Rains - Eli Young Band
Bull Frog Hop - Mississippi Heat
TV-Made-Movie - The Bent Backed Tulips
Illegal Smile - John Prine
Jamie - Eddie Holland
Blues From An Airplane - Jefferson Airplane
Permalink Reply by Jeff Newport on June 13, 2012 at 6:53am Sweet! Thank you, Dennis! It's good to see Paul Kely at the head of the list. Most of these I know well; some I don't but I'll be downloading them from iTunes this morning. Do you know Fred Eaglesmith's Big Hair? It's a song about my wife. Well, she did have big hair in the 80's. Jeff
Jeff, hadn't heard "Big Hair" in a while so I just listened to it again. Great fun! In the 80's even the guys had big hair!
Fred was recently in Ithaca , NY - not to far from me. Some friends who have seen him many times went to the show and said it was one of his best. His backing band had Tif Ginn of the Ginn sisters in it and my friends were blown away by her.
Dennis
