Brian Wilson did the same for me in 2002 (twice !)
For goodness sake don't give the man a band to go along with his electric guitar - every song becomes an interminable 15 minute jamming/extended soloing yawn fest !!
Ha! Right you are.
Thanks . I've still got a soft spot for the film they made of it though "Year Of The Horse" - nice to fast forward at times !!
Being a Neil Young fan of (most) everything I'll just seethe quietly.
I guess Bert was alluding to earlier, less than courteous crowds when he thanked the crowd in Spartanburg for not throwing anything at him. Good set with respectful, if subdued response. Neil's reception was much more enthusiastic of course - though many seemed without a clue as to when a song ended. Led to a few awkward moments, but Neil didn't seem to mind, giving us Old Man AND Heart Of Gold. And I'll join the list of those particularly moved by I Believe In You. A good evening.
Re Jerry Withrow's comment: These clever lines must be scripted--Bert also thanked the Connecticut crowd for refraining from throwing things! Where's the spontaneity these days?
Indeed, David. And it would have been unexpected (as of late) if South Carolina had proven to be civility's lone outpost :)
