New Forum Member Seeking Everyone's Advice!
First i'd like to introduce myself to you guys. Im new to the forum and have undertaken booking a new roots artist that im beginning to work with that i believe has a good chance at making something of himself. Regardless as a team, we are unaware where to start promoting and bringing people in to hear the music and become associated with this artist online. We're looking to develop a big online presence with the roots, country and bluegrass communities. I felt the best approach to promoting is to go to the people! What would be suggestions that you guys have? I look forward to hearing your responses!

First, I would suggest you develop a strong local following and fan base. I have seen too many artists put everything into online and end up with boxes of CDs and no gigs. If you have started that, I would start out with a good website with concert video and music downloads.

We've just developed music downloads online and had them distributed through all the major online dealers. We've also just started booking local shows and festivals to begin building up a local fan base. Was just curious as to online avenues that we may pursue. Thank you for your advice so far!
