I want to copyright some songs and would like to know if anybody has used Click & Copyright.
It seems a lot easier than the U.S. copyright website.

You have an automatic copyright any time you make your work public in any way - record a demo, post a video on youtube, post an mp3 on myspace, soundclick, etc. that is just as good as any website can give you. Your work is protected as solid as a rock and you can stop anyone who attempts to usurp it. But you can't sue for damages unless you have copyrighted it through the US copyright office.
Thanks for that info Lost Hills.

I've heard that it is approx $30 per song, but you can copyright an album for around $100 and have a good number of songs done for one price. If this was the case, Could I put as many songs on a disc and they would all be copyrighted? Is this just a myth?
I'm wondering what good an "automatic copyright" is if you can't sue for damages if infringed upon. What is the point?
That's wrong. You absolutely can sue to defend an unregistered copyright. The point of copyright registration is to establish an official record of the copyright which proves your authorship and the date of the copyright. Copyright registration is one way to establish the date of your copyright, but there are others. One is to seal a copy of the work in an envelope, sign the envelope across the flap and seal it with transparent tape. Then mail the envelope to yourself to establish the date with a postmark. This establishes the date of your copyright in case you have to go to court to protect it. The down side is that you have to save these sealed envelopes yourself, against the day when you might need them. This might require a safe or a safe deposit box, or at the least a fireproof box of some kind. If they are lost in a fire or stolen by a burglar, or just lost in a move, it is then just your word against the copyright violators. Registration simplifies the matter by letting the government copyright office keep it safe.
