What's your favorite Americana album that most never discovered? My first nomination is "Seventeen" by The Samples. A wonderful acoustic live album full of luscious melodies and heartfelt vocals. Perfect for long drives. Highly recommended. Here are several "samples" - no pun intended.

Permalink Reply by Greywolf on January 25, 2012 at 9:53pm I love The Eastern (by The Eastern) for something no one else has heard of, though I think they did open for Steve Earle at one point. They're one of my favorite bands. Hard to find but they are on Itunes, if you search for "The Eastern Arrows" it should show up in the Albums section.
I posted a few of their videos around here too, though they don't necessarily do them justice.

Permalink Reply by Greywolf on January 26, 2012 at 12:03am Just listened to a song of theirs - sounds good thanks! Would have almost thought it was Jeff Tweedy singing.
OK two songs now, like them both... nice.
Permalink Reply by Paul M. Harty on January 26, 2012 at 6:12am Sweet Moments with the Blue Velvet Band. Warners 7 Arts Vinyl LP (1969) never on CD. As memory serves it was Jim Rooney, Bill Keith, Eric Weissberg, Richard Greene, Kenny Kosek?, Andy Kulberg .
Great songs, sung well, great picking. Country rock more than anything else, but snatches of western swing and classic country. I remember being initially disappointed in it because it was not bluegrass. I have been performing the song Sweet Moments (Luke Wills) ever since.
