Hey Trace was my first introduction to this music too ! funnily enough i had them confused with Wilco even tho i didn't know they had been in a band together before.

This is my first post here, but I was a member of the NoDepression board dating back to the AOL days (posted under the name sburbncwby). So I just wanted to say Hi, and introduce myself over here.

I wuld have to include these three albums, as these are the albums that got me my first knowledge of "AltCountry". I listened to them, not knowing they were alt-country, just knowing that I liked them a lot more than the stuff that country radio was playing typically...

And then I heard The Flying Burrito Brothers on the radio and around the same time, I found the NoDepression board on AOL, and my eyes were opened, and I got into these:

The Scud Mountain Boys are great - saw them at a festival in Ottawa a few years back and immediatly scooped up Pine Box and Dance the Night Away.

Gravity and Trace are probably the two albums that made me realize that country could be a whole lot more than the Eddie Rabbit laced stuff that was all over the radio when I was a kid in West Texas...

Glad to see Blue Mountain...Dog Days on your list, David. Check out a recent video we shot of Cary Hudson from Blue Mountain. It's a little more low key than Blue Mountain but what a great songwriter and performer.

My list would look an awful lot like Sonofspam's (thought Lucinda's 'Car Wheels' would be higher up the list). I'd also add Gillian Welch's 'Time (The Revelator)' and Neko Case's 'Blacklisted'. Any other day of the week, there would probably be others too.

I like Car Wheels a lot but i'm not so crazy about the lyrics which seem to busy name dropping to tell a coherent story.

But i love the sound of her voice and her music.
