Hello, I'm not sure how many people who visit No Depression are aware of the Glasgow Celtic Connections Festival, which is definitely a highlight of the gig going year in Scotland. In recent years it's featured a lot of Americana / bluegrass music which is great!
This year I worked on the BBC Celtic Connections site, and we've added tonnes of videos/photos/reviews from the festival many of which are americana-related.
We have videos of almost the entire Gerry Rafferty Remembered show (personal favourites included James Vincent McMorrow and Ron Sexsmith); Jay Farrar, Anders Parker & Will Johnson performing "Chorine"; Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion; highlights from the BBC @ The Fruitmarket show featuring Sarah Lee, Ana Moura, Zoe Muth (more to come from this); Cahalen Morrison & Eli West in an exclusive web only session.
That's just some of the highlights, there's also photos and reviews.
It's been an enjoyable couple of weeks as always - it's a great way to start of the year! Quite a few of the shows are still available to listen to online at BBC Radio Scotland - I'd recommend Friday's Another Country with Ricky Ross which was a two hour in the round featuring Mary Gauthier, Ben Glover and CW Stoneking.
