I have spent the last couple of days trawling through the threads, being a newcomer here. I see Dave Alvin mentioned, probably more than any other, not particularly on the radar this side of the pond. But being a huge fan of the rustic music and incredible harmonies of the Avett Brothers, I note they seem to be less than popular over there, or am I misjudging? I would be interested to know if they are in nfact popular over there, di they have fans stateside? Anyone seen them live?

I think they may have already gotten as much or more attention than they are worth, actually.

I'm a big fan. I can't wait until their new disk comes out at the end of the month.

As for their popularity, given the # of records they have sold, their audience is as dedicated or more so towards the band as any I have seen.
Seems like they are building some serious steam Stewart. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that Rick Rubin had signed them to his Label 'American Recordings' and producing their next album. I think Rubin is a perfect fit for them.
