And if so, where will you be hanging out?

I will be staying at the Austin Motel and will likely hit day parties at YardDog, Jovita's, Jo's and Maria's. Also some Continental Club Happy Hours.

What's the word on No Depression's party at Pangea?

Pangea was last year! We don't have any big plans for this year. I will be down there making the rounds! Looking forward to it.
Thanks. I must have gotten hold of an old post from Sin City. They had it listed for this year ( I thought). I didn't go last year. I've been trying to go every other year. I was doing it every year but it got a bit overwhelming. There's nothing quite like Austin in the springtime.
We'll be there! Come say, "Hi!" if you can:

Lucky guy - I LOVE the Austin Motel! Got to see David Byrne doing his soundcheck in the courtyard there two years ago.

Still working out my schedule, but please post info about the good parties and I'll do the same!

Hey, there! Hope y'all can take a break from that Sin City party to come see my interview with Carlene Carter. It's at 2 p.m. in some room or other at the Conference Center. ;-)

Linda
I was fortunate to see Carlene Carter perform at the Country Music HOF during AMA Conference this past year. She was certainly the real deal. Aside from the great songs, she is a heckuva story teller with a wonderful sense of humor. Reminds me a lot of her mother. Have fun interviewing her.
For anyone who does the badge thing, there's a Wednesday night showcase at Momo's featuring West Texas/Lubbock musicians, or those with various connections to the area.

http://sxsw.com/music/shows/schedule?a=club&s=Momo's

The current line-up is as follows:

8 PM - Cary Swinney, Richard Bowden, Michael O'Conner
9 PM - Thrift Store Cowboys
10 PM - Texas Belairs with Ponty Bone and John X Reed
11 PM - Colin Gilmore
12 PM - Joe Ely and Joel Guzman with Special Guests

For day shows (i.e. Free show),

Brooklyn Vegan party on Thursday is looking pretty good - Avett Brothers, Daniel Johnston, Cursive
SX San Jose on Thursday - Billy Joe Shaver and Handsome Family
Forcefield PR/Asthmatic Kitty on Friday has Bosque Brown
Bloodshot party at the Yard Dog has a great line-up as well
Little Radio day party on Friday - Horse feathers
Dominican Joe coffee on Friday - Telegraph Canyon, Birds and Batteries, Thrift Store Cowboys
Homeslice Pizza on Saturday - Deertick
Dominican Joe on Saturday - Deadman, Theater Fire, Monahans, One Wolf

Way too many bands to see and places to be. I'm going to have to prepare myself for the fact that I can't possibly make it to all of these.
Where is the Brooklyn Vegan party on Thursday? Can anyone get in?
The New Music Tip Sheet puts together a very comprehensive list of all the day parties at SXSW. You can download it here. It's my bible every year!

I have a long long list of notSXSW events from John Conquest, I've uploaded a Word version.

John also hosts his own notSXSW events, which are excellent. Again, details uploaded as a file.

I'll no doubt be spending a fair bit of time at Opal Divine's Playing Fields.
