I'm looking for some good alt. country/Americana dvds. Any suggestions?

I have these:
Old 97's (live)
Tift Merritt (Austin City Limits)
Wilco (I Am Trying to Break Your Heart)
Son Volt (Austin City Limits)

I'd love to pick up some other good ones.

Thanks,
Paul

A few in my collection:

Some classics like:
The Last Waltz
Neil Young Unplugged

and:
Emmylou Harris - Spyboy w/ Buddy Miller and special guest Julie Miller!
Rhett Miller Live on World Cafe
Jeff Tweedy Sunken Treasure
Ryan Adams Live in Jamaica
+ the ACL shows are awesome! (currently have the Eliza Gilkyson and Dave Alvin shows)

Looks like there are a few more out there I need to get ahold of!!
not sure if this is quite what you want but check out Heartworn Highways.. a great video..
Lots of great ideas here, but has anyone mentioned Waylon? I've found 2 DVD's that capture him in prime form in the 70's. One is "Nashville Rebel" and the other is Waylon live in '78 at the Grand Ole Opry, which is part of the "Waylon: Renegade. Outlaw. Legend." DVD biography of Waylon. I got turned off by Waylon in the 80's when he turned into a caraciture of himself, but these DVD performances, especially the '78 Grand Ole Opry, show both what a great, soulful singer he was and his amazing picking, not to mention that cool loping Waylon groove. A force unto himself in his time, I reckon.

Also, I dug the Neko Case Austin City Limits DVD--I think this is the best production I've seen in the series, though I like both of the Lucinda Williams Austin City Limits DVD's as well.
I don't have it, but I've been itching to get Dave Alvin's Live in Austin DVD.
Dave Alvin and Billy Joe Shaver are the best two Live From Austin Tx Dvds - for me at any rate .
new here and dont have time to read thru all replies.
but glad to see you have i am trying to break your heart...prob on eof the best music films ive ever seen.

jim white's 'searching for the wrong eyed jesus' is well worth getting. a bizarre but beuatiful film infused with great alt country and roots music and several weird performances...notably the handsome family on a houseboat.

:-}
BLUE RODEO IN STEREOVISION!!!!

Why these guys aren't huge in the states should be a punishable crime!
Gotta see Be Here To Love Me and Heartworn Highways, as most people have already mentioned. Also, Reckless Kelly Was Here and Steve Earle Transcendental Blues are great concert DVDs. Finally, you've gotta see The Life And Times of Guy Terrifico. Its a mocumentary movie (kind of like an alt-country Spinal Tap) about a Gram Parsons - esque hero with interviews with Kris Kristofferson, Blue Rodeo, Merle Haggard, Levon Helm, Phil Kaufman, Stephen Broder and a bunch more. It gets better everytime I watch it.
Are you looking for sort of obscure type stuff or new artists etc... You should check out Girls Guns and Glory.

I think you'd really like em!
I'm surprised only one person recommended the Ryan Adams Live in Jamaica. Also really good was the Ryan Adams September release. Didn't like the Bloodshot dvd though. Also own a couple of Bob Dylan dvds bt haven't had a chance to watch them yet.

Great list - I now have a list of what I need to buy - starting with "Heartworn Highways" and "Down From the Mountain".
Stina , have you seen Johnny Cash Live At Montreaux , its superb especially if you like "American Recordings" his first Rick Rubin album , i'd give it 9/10 .
PS if i knew you i'd send you mixtapes ALL the time !
No, I haven't. I own the "Johnny Cash in Ireland" and the "The Unauthorized Biography of Johnny Cash 1932-2003" but haven't had a chance to watch them yet. Have a stack of music related dvds to go through. Hopefully going to be able to watch a Bob Dylan tonight. Will check that Johnny out - I'm a big Johnny fan.

:P Love mixed tapes - so much fun associated with them. Especially if it's got stuff you haven't heard on it. I'm a music nerd so I really put some thought into my car mixes even. LOL
