I'm looking for some good alt. country/Americana dvds. Any suggestions?

I have these:
Old 97's (live)
Tift Merritt (Austin City Limits)
Wilco (I Am Trying to Break Your Heart)
Son Volt (Austin City Limits)

I'd love to pick up some other good ones.

Thanks,
Paul

Be Here To Love Me - a great biog of Townes Van Zandt
Seconded. Be Here to Love Me is a stunning film.
Jon Dee Graham, "Swept Away"
*Bloodied but Unbowed: Bloodshot Records’ Life in the Trenches
*Voodoo Rhythm: The Gospel of Primitive Rock ’n’ Roll (cool little doc about one of my favorite record companies)

Read my reviews of these here: http://steveterrell.blogspot.com/2006/11/terrells-tuneup-watching-m...

Also Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night
The only good thing about "Bloodied" was the Ryan Adams bits. Was deeply disturbed by the naked music video (very disgusting that was) Shudder. LOL.
Also (how could I forget???)
*The Best of the Johnny Cash TV Show
Some other excellent Austin City Limits DVDs:
— Eliza Gilkyson
— Neko Case
— Lucinda Williams
— Doug Sahm
— Dave Alvin
— Calexico
plus the recently released 1989 Austin City Limits
of Lucinda Williams with her original band of
Gurf Morlix, Donald Lindley and Dr John Ciambotti.

Then there's Return to Sin City ... the Gram Parsons tribute
concert with Dwight Yoakam, John Doe, Steve Earle,
Keith Richards, Lucinda Williams & many others

And Jeff Tweedy's solo turn Sunken Treasure.
Some may consider this one sacrilege, as it takes some liberties with the story, but I enjoyed it: Grand Theft Parsons. (And I do admire and respect Gram Parsons.)

Johnny Knoxville plays Phil Kaufman, Gram Parson's friend and road manager, in a film telling the story of how he kept his promise that which ever of the two outlived the other would make sure the other's body was cremated in the desert. You can see the trailer here.
I've seen Grand Theft Parsons (Kaufman puts in a cameo near the end) but feel the real story has yet to be committed to film ... much better is Fallen Angel by Gandulf Hennig ... which has some GP footage but much more oral history from Peter Buck, James Burton, Emmylou Harris, Chris Hillman, Phil Kaufman, Bernie Leadon, Avis Bartkus Parsons III, Gretchen Parsons Carpenter, Diane Parsons, Polly Parsons, Keith Richards and Dwight Yoakam. As I recall in Grand Theft Parsons they had other people covering some of Gram's songs.
Oh, I agree - if you're looking for a Parsons bio, definitely get Fallen Angel. It's a very thorough, well-sourced film. But if you want some light entertainment, watch Grand Theft Parsons. The original request was just for "some good alt-country/America DVDs".
:-)
I really like the Ballad of Ramblin' Jack. No Direction Home is excellent as well.
Live @ The 40 Watt - Drive-by Truckers
Heartworn Highways
Just an American Boy - Steve Earle
Fallen Angel - Gram Parsons
