Honestly, I have stayed away from him, they have overplayed that song "Chicken Fried" so much. Before he was signed by a major label, his 1.5 million selling CD "The Foundation" was already made and was selling fairly well. A lot of money was sunk into that CD, but, is he for real, anybody like him. I kinda wanta like him, but something keeps me away, There is just something about him, that I can't explain.

Actually gave the album a few listens given all the hype. While I can't disagree with the sentiments expressed so far, actually like the cover of they did of Ray LaMontagne's "Jolene". Not saying it is better than the original just that I like it also.
I hadn't heard anything by Zac before Merlefest, where he headlined opening night. His Aunt is nice. Met her waiting for the first buses from the lot to the fest. He has a large following. I like that he features a few other artists in his shows. Sonia Leigh impressed me more than Zac. Her CD is generally good but also has 3 or 4 excellent songs.
His "Sic' "em on a Chicken" is humorous, and far from PC.
He's this generations Jimmy Buffet. I like Jimmy. Have some of his stuff but I wouldn't call myself a Parrothead. Wouldn't kill me to never hear Marguertaville again. Personally I don't need another , younger, Jimmy Buffet. But Zac has found a fan base. No denying that.
It's really inconsequential in every way possible. Everything from the goofy stocking cap to the breezy attitude seems grafted on and the music is lifeless and antiseptic. Other than that he's fine and better than, say, Jason Aldean -- but to each his own.
