With a decade’s playing together under their belts, The Sunshine Delay have been winning admirers throughout the UK and the USA for their classy original songs and a style that blends the best elements of country roots and power pop.
Appealing to fans of REM, Matthew Sweet, The Jayhawks and Lucinda Williams amongst others, the foursome have chalked up two successful USA summer tours as well gigging intensively around the UK to appreciative audiences, building a loyal fan base.
Based in Edinburgh and big on the Scottish Americana scene, impressive supports include opening for Dave Alvin, Chuck Prophet, Allison Moorer and Robbie Fulks. They’ve also played as backing band for the likes of Jason Ringenberg from the Scorchers, Dolly Varden, Amy Rigby and Tandy.
Debut album , Outrageous Expectations, released in May 2004 contains 10 self-penned “classy country pop” songs delivering an exciting guitar driven sound with countrified harmonies: “a strong collection of material”; “a superb album… the kind of melody- drenched pop that nowadays is as rare as a happy motorist.”
BBC Radio Scotland airplay includes the Brand New Opry, the Tom Morton Show, the Iain Anderson show and a live session on the Arts Show.
Their eagerly awaited, still to be titled, second album is planned to launch Summer 2011
