We are Going Away Party. We play hard-driving bluegrass, agnostic gospel songs about reincarnation, maudlin parlor ballads, waltzes, classic country tunes, Western Swing, fake mariachi, and hardcore punk songs that sound like Ernest Tubb. It's all super-catchy and danceable and I'm sure that even if you don't like it, you won't be able to get the image of us hacking away at our instruments out of your mind.

We're playing at San Francisco Women Against Rape's Fifth Annual Walk Against Rape in Dolores Park in San Francisco on Saturday, April 24th at around 3:00pm.

I play string bass and sing. My old buddy and long-time musical co-conspirator Jeff Kaplan plays banjo. We've got a couple of super-talented musical friends to help us out on our first outing: old-time master Dave Berry on mandolin, fiddling whiz David Finch, and Pam Brandon (the busiest woman in the Bay Area roots music scene) on guitar.
