Event Description

It's not just weekend pool parties at the Beach House this September and October...all year round you can come by to explore art, listen to music, or learn something new! In September and October three upcoming Beach=Culture events will test your concentration, let you make something beautiful, and bathe your ears with swing and soul!

Did you know that Johnny Mathis covered "Kol Nidre", or that Billy Holliday belted out a version of "My Yiddische Momme"? On Monday, October 25th at 6:30pm enjoy a listening party that will blow your mind with scholar and USC Annenberg professor Josh Kun, who will take you on an audio journey through an undeservedly obscure corner of our musical heritage, drawing connections between African American and Jewish music and popular entertainers from the 30s to the 60s.

Other events: Through November the Exhibit Gallery features "Mountains to the Sea", a mixed media exhibit by eleven artists from the artist-run Topanga Canyon Gallery. On Monday, September 27th at 6:30pm, drop by for an artist demo associated with this ongoing gallery exhibit, by Linda Bolhuis, silk painter extraordinaire. If you can't make it in September, on Monday, October 11 at 6:30pm there will be a second artist demo, featuring sculptor Rebecca Catterall demonstrating the magical technique of image transfer on clay, making trompe-l'oeil sculptures that belie their humble materials.

Reserve your seats for the events online at http://annenbergbeachhouse.com/cultural-programs.
